WORKOUT FROM HOME

The amount of people working from home has never been so high due to lockdowns across the country so why aren’t we seeing this drastic rise in people working out from home? Why when it comes to working out do we need to go somewhere or get outside and get motivated to do so?

Things are different this year and nobody can honestly say they were prepared for what 2020 has thrown at us. In a time where our health and fitness is so important, should we need to search for motivation to workout? Surely our physical and mental wellbeing is enough motivation to keep us moving everyday.

The physical benefits of exercise are obvious but in a stressful year we have seen a rise in people suffering with mental health related problems and understandably so. We are all being asked to stay at home, away from our friends and family and there is a lot of uncertainty about when and if things will return to normal. Not only will exercise provide the perfect distraction helping you to break out of the cycle of negative thoughts but it has endless amounts of mental benefits to help you through these tough times.

Studies have shown that exercise can treat mild to moderate depression as effectively as depression medication but without the side effects that medication can cause. Working out promotes changes in the brain, reduced inflammation and promotes feelings of calm and well being.

Relieving tension and stress, exercise is the perfect anti anxiety treatment. By releasing endorphins you will boost your physical and mental energy, helping your brain function and keeping you more concentrated for tasks at hand. This will aid with your self esteem, making you feel more self worthy.

Amongst others, a timely and important benefit of exercise is to build your resilience. This year we have faced mental and emotional challenges and exercise can help build your resilience and help you cope with these challenges. With regular exercise you will strengthen your immune system and reduce the impact of these stresses.

We are in lockdown, gyms are shut, businesses are shut. You can’t afford to not work from home but can you afford to not workout from home?
